Dunes Restoration Strategy
In 2014, Siuslaw National Forest staff convened a group of stakeholders who were concerned about the future of the Oregon dunes. Some had already been talking about the need to restore the dunes, others cared for this special place and were just beginning to learn about its uncertain future. Between feld trips and work sessions over the next two years, the group developed a strategy for how to best tackle the challenges facing the dunes. Recognizing that addressing the issue will be complex, expensive, long term, and that the need is urgent, the strategy provides a road map for a coordinated dunes restoration effort.
