Join the Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative at the John Dellenback Dunes Trailhead to remove Scotch broom at the Umpqua Dunes on Saturday, August 24 from 10 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are needed to continue our efforts to remove invasive Scotch broom from one of our "Protect the Best" sites. It is approximately 0.4 miles uphill on the trail to the worksite. This is a family event, so children and friendly dogs on leash are welcome. Join the Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative, Lane County Parks Department, and the Friends of Three Mile Prairie on Saturday, October 26 from 10 AM to Noon to remove invasive Scotch broom and small trees from the Three Mile Prairie Dunes County Park in Florence, OR. The Three Mile Prairie Dunes site provides good habitat for dunes-adapted native plants and wildlife, but is threatened by invasive weeds and vegetation. Volunteers are needed on Saturday, November 16 from 10AM to Noon to help the Oregon Dunes Restoration Collaborative remove invasive Scotch broom from the Oregon Dunes Day Use Area. The Day Use Area is mid-way between Reedsport and Florence. It is a short walk to the work site. You can go to the beach after the event, but it is a rather steep hike back up.
